So I started doing research online and found that apparently this is a big scam. The mail I got for the check is from Maryland. 3) The number the guy was texting me from was Ohio, but the phone number on the ad was Vermont.and it was a google number. I told the guy this and he told me to open a new account so I could deposit the check. 1) Why would I be sent the money don't they have a guy that does this and he's already paid if they're a big business? 2) The ad said I could get paid in cash which was great because the bank I use isn't in this state and I havent opened a new account yet. I gave him the info and he texted me that he would send me a check where most of the money would go to the guy wrapping the car and I would keep the rest.okay so a few red flags here.
I contacted the guy and told him I was interested (I've seen plenty of cars wrapped with energy drink ads so I thought it could be legit) and he asked for my address and the make and model of my car.
